The short version: your databases, credentials, and queries stay on your Mac. FeatherDB has no analytics, no telemetry, and no account system. It talks to a server in exactly three situations — buying, activating, and checking for updates — and this page lists precisely what each one involves.

What stays on your Mac

Your database contents and queries. FeatherDB connects your Mac directly to your databases. Rows, schemas, and query results are never sent to us — there is no server of ours in that path.
Your credentials. Connection secrets (database passwords, SSH key passphrases) are stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac. They are never transmitted to us.
Sandboxes. Local clones run in an embedded Postgres on your Mac. The masking of personal data happens on your Mac, during the clone.
AI traffic. AI tools connect to FeatherDB's local gateway on your machine. What your AI tools send to their own providers is governed by those tools — FeatherDB never routes your data through our servers.

The three times FeatherDB talks to a server

Buying. Checkout is operated by Polar, the merchant of record. Polar processes your payment and handles your payment details — we never see card numbers. From a completed order we receive and store: the order id, the purchase email address, the amount, and timestamps. We need these to honour your licence.
Activating. When you activate, the app sends your purchase email and a device identifier to api.featherdb.dev, and the server emails you a 6-digit code. The device identifier is a SHA-256 hash computed on your Mac — the raw hardware identifier never leaves your machine, and the hash cannot be reversed into it. We store: the hashed device id, which order it belongs to, and activation timestamps, to enforce the two-machine seat limit. Deactivating a machine from within the app frees its seat. After activation, the licence verifies offline — no further server contact.
Checking for updates. The app fetches the standard Sparkle update feed at featherdb.dev/appcast.xml. The request carries no account, no licence information, and no device identifier — it is an ordinary HTTPS file download. System profiling is disabled.

Email

We send exactly two kinds of email: your activation codes (from [email protected]) and replies when you write to support. Buying FeatherDB does not subscribe you to a newsletter, and we do not share your address with anyone.

What we never do

No analytics or telemetry — in the app or on this website.
No third-party trackers, ad pixels, or fingerprinting.
No selling, renting, or sharing of your data with anyone.
No account, no password, no profile.

This website is served by Cloudflare Pages; like any host, Cloudflare processes standard request logs (IP address, user agent) to deliver the site. We run no analytics on top of that.

How long we keep order data

Order and activation records are kept for as long as the licence they belong to needs servicing — they are what lets you re-activate on a new Mac years from now. If you want your records deleted, email us; note that deletion also removes our ability to verify your purchase, so re-activation afterwards will not be possible.
